Ingredients:
DAMAR
Damar is extruded from trees of the genus Shorea which are cultivated for their treasured incense, which is also known as cat-eye resin in some regions. Damar resin is full of lovely lemony aromas. Damar was originally used for lighting torches which is why it is considered the bringer of light - lifting spirits from gloom and despair. It is known to lift the spirit and is known for bringing light into the darkness. It is especially powerful for alleviating sadness and bringing joyful energy to melancholy. When burned Damar creates a holy smoke that clears negative energies and helps connect with higher consciousness and spiritual realms. Damar resin is bright, joyful and cleansing with fragrant sweet notes.
ELEMI
A sacred resin derived from the Canarium luzonicum tree, Elemi has a long history of traditional use in its native Philippines where it is known as “Pili.” The word Elemi is Arabic, a word used to describe the concept of “as above, so below”. With its fresh, citrus scent, Elemi can be used to stimulate mental ability and is especially useful when you are suffering from stress, anxiety and nervous exhaustion. Burning Elemi resin produces smoke that is cleansing, purifying, grounding and balancing. It can be used to prepare your space for meditation and prayer as it is thought to enhance psychic abilities and strengthen connection to divine forces. The resin has a light citrus and spicy aroma.
FRANKINCENSE
Also called olibanum, Frankincense is an aromatic gum resin containing a volatile oil that is used in incense and perfumes. Frankincense is obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia which are found in Somalia, Yemen, Oman, and parts of India and Pakistan. The woody, spicy fragrance of burning frankincense is synonymous with religious ceremony around the world and is commonly used in meditation practice. The burning resin inspires purification and centering of the mind, body and spirit. Frankincense was valued in ancient times in worship and as a medicine and is still an important incense resin, particularly in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox
churches. Frankincense was also used by the ancient Egyptians in their religious rites.
MYRRH Myrrh has been used since antiquity in incense mixtures to inspire prayer and meditation and to fortify and revitalize the spirit. Myrrh was hugely popular with our ancient ancestors, used as medicine by the Chinese and Egyptians, with the Egyptians also using it as a part of mummification. Burned before ritual, Myrrh rids the area of negative vibrations. Myrrh is burned for purification, protection and self-healing. The scent is said to boost the spirits and the soul, and is often used to alleviate the symptoms of nervous system disorders.
KAURI GUM
Kauri gum is often regarded as a conduit to the ancient energies of the Earth due to its fossilised nature.
It helps connect with ancestral wisdom and the deep-rooted knowledge of nature and the cosmos. Like other tree resins, Kauri gum has purifying qualities. It can be burned to cleanse spaces of negative energy and restore balance. Kauri gum is associated with life force, vitality and strength. The golden or amber tones of kauri gum link it to solar energies, fostering warmth, positivity, and illumination.
JUNIPER
In various cultures around the world, Juniper has been known as a protector tree. Native Americans and Tibetans have used juniper incense in ceremonies and as traditional medicine for millennia. In ancient Egyptian its fragrant wood, needles and berries were used as incense and medicine. It has been widely burned since antiquity as a fumigant to stave off viruses and plagues of sickness all over the Mediterranean and surrounding regions. It has also been a symbol of strength, fertility, and longevity for centuries. It is known for its stimulating and mind-clearing properties, its cleansing and purification of the atmosphere, its calming and relaxing effect on the nerves, and its sharpening of mental awareness and alertness.It is strongly protective and dispels negative energies and entities.
SANDALWOOD
Sandalwood has been used for thousands of years in a ritual context. It appears in Buddhist and Muslim rituals, and was one of several fragrant plants used by the Egyptians in embalming rituals. In Buddhism burning sandalwood incense transforms desires and promotes human mindfulness. In many traditions of modern Paganism, it is associated with healing and purification. The scent being released by sandalwood incense is known to lower the levels of anxiety and stress. Burning sandalwood incense relieves insomnia as the aroma of sandalwood is a great sedative.
PALO SANTO
Harvested wood from Palo Santo trees which are found primarily in South America and in some regions of Central America. When burnt it releases a woody scent with hints of pine, lemon, and mint. In the Shamanic history of South America, Palo Santo is said to remove negativity and obstacles and attract good fortune. The uplifting and pleasantly aromatic smoke enhances the vibration of any environment, facilitates creativity, and attracts positive energy.
PATCHOULI
Patchouli is an aromatic flowering plant of the mint family, the leaves of which are used as an incense. Patchouli is native to tropical Asia, where it is widely cultivated and has been used for centuries for its essential oil. It’s smell is pungent, earthy, and a little musky. Patchouli incense has been used for centuries as a traditional incense in many cultures. Used to enhance and attract love, wealth, passion and fertility. Burning patchouli leaf incense can be an aid for restful sleep, the burning leaves release compounds which can act as sedatives to help you relax and get a good night’s sleep..
